Doctors Performed Rare Surgery of Inflamed Heart Valve to Heal 10-year-old

Based on a report in The Free Press Journal, in a rare surgery, a 10-year-old boy with a swollen heart valve was treated with a complex Thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm (TAAA) repair surgery at a hospital in Mumbai.

The process the boy underwent is considered to be complicated because it involves surgical removal of a section of the aorta and replacement with an artificial graft.

Bipeenchandra Bhamre, the Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at the hospital, said, this was a complex and challenging case because abdominal aortic aneurysms are rare in children.
