Mexican Doctors remove Parasitic Worm from Boy’s eye

Based on a report in the NEJM Mexican doctors have removed a worm from a 17 year old boy’s eye. The boy had lost his eyesight and could barely see by the time he went to the Doctors and sought for help.

The teenager had corneal edema and his eye was speckled with blood. The worm had made multiple holes and had caused damage to the boy’s iris. The worm was removed by cutting it into several pieces.

According to CDC such incidents occur when humans are infected by undercooked fish or crab meat.
