Based on a report in The Times of India, doctors who are believed gods by patients cannot route to striking their duty declining to attend ill patients, Justice N Kirubakaran of Madras high court said.
The judge made the notes on a request moved by Raju, a taxi driver, who was forced to admit his pregnant wife in a private hospital because post-graduate students/doctors of Raja Muthiaya Medical College and Hospital (RMMCH) of Annamalai University resorted to strike and renounced from attending patients.
The request against the decision is pending in the Supreme Court. While the fact being so, the PG students, who are all already registered doctors, cannot behave themselves as ordinary workers by indulging in the strike and declining to treat ill patients, Justice Kirubakaran said.
